Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve public understanding and attitudes toward the prevention of hypertension. Based on the findings, cases of hypertension remain relatively high among residents. Information gathered also indicated that the community's knowledge about hypertension is still relatively low. Education was provided through several stages, starting with planning and preparation, which included obtaining permissions and organizing target participants. This was followed by the implementation phase, where educational materials were delivered and concluded with an evaluation session. The program's success was measured by increased participants' knowledge about hypertension after the activity. The results showed an improvement in public understanding of hypertension. Therefore, it is expected that healthcare workers and local health centers will continue to support the community through regular education on hypertension and by paying close attention to their health status. Preventive efforts can begin by avoiding various risk factors and routinely checking blood pressure, especially considering that hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) managed at the Soropia Health Center.
