Measurement of Nutritional Status in Students of SMPN 48 Pekanbaru City by Using IMT/U Index and Waist Circumference to Height Ratio

Abstract

Adolescents' nutritional status requires concern because they are in the second stage of rapid growth after infancy. Measuring teens' nutritional status at SMPN 48 Pekanbaru City aimed to increase student's awareness of their nutritional state, which would have an impact on their health and learning capacities. Anthropometric approaches were used to assess nutritional status utilizing indices such as BMI/U and waist-to-hip ratio. The data obtained includes name, age, gender, date of birth, weight, height, and waist circumference. Microtoises, digital scales, and measuring tapes are all tools used to assess nutritional status. The data was processed using the WHO Anthroplus tool for BMI/U and manually by dividing waist circumference by height. The majority of students have good nutritional status. A balanced diet should be consumed by students, especially those underweight or overweight.

Abstrak

Status gizi pada remaja perlu mendapat perhatian karena remaja berada dalam masa pertumbuhan cepat yang kedua setelah bayi. Pengukuran status gizi pada remaja di SMPN 48 Kota Pekanbaru bertujuan agar siswa lebih peduli dengan status gizinya yang akan berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan dan kemampuan belajarnya. Metode antropometri digunakan dalam pengukuran status gizi dengan menggunakan indikator IMT/U dan rasio LP/TB. Data yang dikumpulkan terdiri dari nama, umur, jenis kelamin, tanggal lahir, berat badan, tinggi badan, dan lingkar pinggang. Alat untuk mengukur status gizi antara lain microtoise, timbangan digital, dan pita meteran. Data diolah menggunakan aplikasi WHO Anthro plus untuk IMT/U dan secara manual dengan membagi lingkar pinggang dengan tinggi badan. Sebagian besar siswa memiliki status gizi baik. Konsumsi gizi seimbang perlu diterapkan terutama bagi siswa dengan status gizi kurang atau lebih.
